Memo to the Grinch: Don’t Even Think About It

black-santas-revenge-final-mini2.jpg

Santa’s finally here, boys and girls, and he’s packing some serious heat, so don’t get any bright ideas about dipping your hand into into someone else’s stocking, ya dig?

Anyway: Two dozen readers have made the ho-ho-ho scene in a big way, because they’re the winners of the Uni Watch holiday raffle. Here they are, along with the prizes they’ll be receiving:

1. Aaron Stilley (Uni Watch membership)
2. Darryl Pickworth (autographed MLB sleeve patch)
3. Zach Brady (Hebrewers tee)
4. Carl Muranda (I’m Calling It Shea tee)
5. Joel Paylor (sportswear tags)
6. Jeffrey Berman (Ravens/O’s hybrid cap)
7. Jonathan Reinfeld (batting gloves)
8. Jeremiah Tillman (Huskies jersey)
9. James Ortez (49ers mini-pennant)
10. Daniel Tatomyr (Yankee Stadium monograph)
11. Calvin Lasister (Mets belt buckle)
12. Brandon Merchant (Ticket Journal album)
13. Beau Schott (NHL/Reebok eco shirt)
14. Charlie Ryczek (Meats tee)
15. Ben Wideman (I Still Call It the Jake tee)
16. Marc Bowen (Rob Ullman tee)
17. Jason Hijuelos (I Still Call It Mile High tee)
18. Tris Wykes (76ers tee, blank on back)
19. Erik Davila (Astros baseball card book)
20. Joe Wolper (76ers tee w/ logo on back)
21. Josh Eisenberg (Asheville Tourists tee)
22. Dan McCue (Farkas Eye Black tee)
23. Chris Stoppel (I Still Call It Joe Robbie tee)
24. Bob Sughrue (Islanders tee)

I did my best to accommodate people’s prize requests, but a few folks ended up getting stuck with items that weren’t on their wish lists. Eh, whatever, you can always re-gift the item to someone else, right? But if you don’t want the prize you’re slated to receive, please contact me pronto. Otherwise, watch your mailbox over the next week or two, as I’ll be mailing out the prizes in a few batches.

I’m about to head out to Long Island to spend the day with my family (including my brother, whose birthday is today). My sincerest best wishes to all Uni Watch readers for a swell holiday season. Hope Santa brought you exactly what you wished for and that you got a little under-the-mistletoe action to boot. I don’t care how naughty or nice you’ve been — you’re all aces in my book.

And to close us out, here’s Phil with his annual holiday address:

Sweet, I won the Mets Belt Buckle. I will wear it with pride when I finally make the trek to Queens.

I HAVE to show this to my sister and her family when they come over today. They love that movie.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to all (and to all a good night).

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you.

Now get off of your computers and go spend time with your families.

If you’re all alone today, you can come hang out with mine…seriously!

22 seconds? Phil, I was expecting a holiday message as long as your weekend posts. Maybe next year… ;)

Merry Christmas, guys and gals. Thanks for being my go-to web site every day, even though I don’t comment much.

Hope that my colleagues at the Times Plaza Post Office treat you well when you ship those prizes Paul.

Very apropos, considering that there was some MAJOR DRAMA at my house last night due to a gift of a BB gun. I won’t get into specifics, but:
A)my sister-in-law was so upset that she started walking home (it was 35 degrees and raining) and she made it about 2 miles before someone her and brought her back.
    B) I had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all. Here’s a pic of link (hint: it’s not the t-shirt).

Hey, Vilk, you might want to show your sister this, too. Probably bring back fond memories of Christmas mornings long, long ago at the Vilk houshold…

oh, life is like that…sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at it’s zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters decend upon us

Woke up here in the Bluff to an unpredicted snow! Everyone make sure to take pictures of all the kids their new kiddie football, hockey, lacrosse, ping pong, etc. garb so it can be posted here on uniwatch in about 25 years as “vintage”! Between my three boys they ended up with jerseys from:
    Danbury Trashers
    Minnesota Moose
    Philadelphia Phantoms
    Quad City Mallards
    Kansas State Wildcats
    New Orleans Saints
    Indianapolis Colts
    Italy soccer
    Argentina soccer
    St.Louis Cardinals
Good grief Charlie Brown. Talk about spoiled. No they weren’t ALL from their parents…
    Merry Christmas everybody.

Merry Christmas to all. Thanks for holding the raffle, Paul. I’m excited to receive my Meats shirt!

is mrs. powers in her santa’s helper suit?

Anyone know what color pants Arizona is wearing with white helmets and white jerseys in the holiday bowl? From the links to the UA equipment manager blog, it appears they will also be wearing red socks. I’m thinking that the switch to white helmets is to facilitate a lame “white out” game with white pants, but I think white-white-navy would look solid.

    Merry Christmas!

    No swoosh on the belt?

/oh yeah, Merry December Holiday to all, and to all some striped socks.

These NBA uni snowflakes look very Star of Davidy don’t they? As a Hebrew myself, I like the fact that David Stern is pulling one over on the goyim.

    Merry Christmas UniWatchers

I wish the USA Network still did “Christmas with the Apes (Planet of…that is)”.

It was nice to see the SMUstangs win in such a pretty uniform last night.

“Bob is the king of Israel”. Genius.

Merry Christmas to all UWers. Was anyone else besides me enthralled with the 49ers-Cowboys game on NFL network last night? After 3 watchings of a Christmas Story, I wandered over to NFL network for ‘The Catch’ game. Wow, what a treat it was to watch that game again. First and foremost, classic unis on a not-so-perfect grass field. But a few other nuggets I picked up as well:

    * I forgot how many turnovers there were in that game. Must have been 7 or 8 in total.
    * Actual shoulder pads and thigh and knee pads
    * It appears the players took a regular jersey and just put it on over their pads. The stripes were actually straight!
    * Quarterbacks who also punted! What a concept!
    * Where was the tuck rule on the last minute fumble by White? It was the exact same play as Brady’s versus the Raiders. What if that is ruled an incomplete pass? Does Dallas kick the FG and the catch is relegated to also-ran status?
    * Some really bogus P.I. calls on Ronnie Lott, who appeared to be wearing the same shoulder pads as the o-lineman.
    * The head referee wore a black hat and the other refs wore white hats. Now, the standard is the opposite.
    * Some questionable clock management by 49ers. They had 1st down at the 13 with 2 TO’s and called a quick TO with 1:15 left. Then after the 2nd down run, another quick TO instead of running more clock. They ended up giving the Cowboys way too much time and it almost cost them.

There were others as well, like some really horrible outfits in the stands, but that’s enough for one day.

P.S. The Knicks green jerseys are hideous.

    Merry Christmas!

My son got an iPOD, gift cards, Madden 10 but the thing that got him most excited was something I dropped in his stocking…. link

The kids got a major kick out of them. Pretty much simultaneously, one said they look like clown pants and another one said I’m ready for the circus.

    Philistines.

Happy Holidays to all in Uniwatch land. You all are the greatest……..hold on……keep it together Mike……ok, I’m good………No, wait……I’ll be back.

    I got four things

    1) New dress pants.

    2) a Wii. (I just did my first 30 minute workout on it, in hopes of dropping weight in the new year).

    3) a University of Michigan Snuggie (much need for working on the computer late into the night).

    4) A family picture of my parents, me, my brother, his wife and my 16 month old nephew.

It was a great Christmas here. Just waiting for them to comeback from my sister-in-law’s mother house to partake of some homecooking.

    Merry Christmas to all.

Oh, she enjoyed this one even more than the Benchies.

If it were neon green, I’d wear that costume.

Wearing the Christmas Hawaiian shirt right now, but earlier I was dressed a little more conservatively while going through my Christmas stocking: link

My aunt DIYed that for me about 30 years ago. I like how she added the cleats and everything.

A Merry Christmas day to all. (if you don’t celebrate the day, I don’t wish you any less of a merry day).
Just here briefly today, but it is very fulfilling to check in with the regular posters and bask in the glory of their holiday gifts and memories of Christmases past.
No uni or sports gifts for me this year. My daughters did get some wildly striped socks.

Merry Christmas, to al UWers. I just can’t stay away!

    Cowboys vs. 49ers 1982 …..

Was that Vin Scully announcing that game with Hank Stram? Man, I watched every NFL game from 1972 to the present and I can’t remember that Vin Scully did football …. man, I an losing it.

Always thought that this seminal football game ended kind of weird for the 49ers, despite the fact that at the time I was estatic that the 49ers won.

I thought that on the last play of the game, Jowwhen Ju n 0
e Montana was a bit too fast in running backward with the football after taking a knee (?) and that in sprinting backward maybe actually made an unintentional safety. I have never watched the last play again so I am not sure, but at the time I thought it looked really unsettlingly weird.

The same way that the miscalled “Tuck Rule” changed the NFL for the entire 2000’s, that play (Danny White’s “fumble”/uncalled Tuck Rule), as well as that last Montana play, just may have changed the NFL for the entire 1980’s!!!!

All I want for Christmas are the Saints to bonfire their Black Pants !!!

I actually got something Uni related this Christmas. I have the greatest wife in the world. She got me an awesome Bart Starr jersey commemorating the ice bowl. Camera memory card doesn’t work on his cmputer, so here i a stock photo:
    link

I LOVE the long sleeves and the titched numbers and NOB. Mele kaliki maka to everyone! Thanks for all the hard work ya’ll do throughout the year.

am i just seeing things or does lamar odom have a reg. nba logo on one side and a snowflake logo on the other side?

christmas night, nationally televised game (sort-of) two original AFL teams. Maybe i’m not familiar with the algorithm used to make the call, but to my mind, there is no reason this game shouldn’t be a Legacy Game.

could’ve hyped it as such and had people sitting round wearing their brand new, just unwrapped AFL throwback swag.

    eh, what do i know?

Enjoying Ken Burn’s “Baseball” on MLB Network and my somewhat recently unwrapped Pats AFL throwback swag. Merry Christmas All!

Noticed that some of the Chargers Offensive linemen’s jerseys are cut so tight that the NFL shield is missing.

Also, I am a bit surprised not much has been made of the return of the white sock/black shoes look in the NBA this year, as worn by Lebron today in LA.
