When the Covid-19 pandemic began, my then-girlfriend and I got in the daily habit of having happy hour on our front porch and watching the world go by. After the first couple of days, I began documenting the ritual by taking a photo from the back of the porch, looking out on our block. So each photo was the same, but each photo was also different, depending on who was walking by or whatever else might be happening.
We did this every day, no matter the weather or circumstances — rain, snow, cold, whatever — for 424 consecutive days. We stopped when we finally felt safe sitting at the bar at one of our neighborhood watering holes.
This wasn’t a uni-related project per se, but it unfolded on the Uni Watch blog, where it became a daily feature that many readers looked forward to. All 424 photos are archived, in chronological sequence, here.
