With the NBA Finals set to tip off on Wednesday night in San Antonio, the league last night unveiled the court design that the Knicks and Spurs will be playing on. The design marks the first time since since 2009 (Lakers/Magic) that the O’Brien Trophy has appeared at center court, and also marks the first time since 2014 (Spurs/Heat) that the “Finals” script has appeared at each end of the court.
These same elements appear on the Knicks’ court design, which will make its debut when the series moves to New York for Game 3 next Monday, June 8:
Per this AP story, “The league started using the finals wordmark on the court for the title round in 1989, went to a combined wordmark and trophy in 2004, then had the prominent trophy logo at midcourt from 2005 through 2009.” (I’m not aware of any database that shows the court designs for previous NBA Finals. But if that exists somewhere, let me know and I’ll add a link.)
As for the uniforms, here’s what the teams will be wearing the first four games:
Game 1 (Wednesday, June 3)
Game 2 (Friday, June 5)
Game 3 (Monday, June 8)
Game 4 (Wednesday, June 10)
The uniforms for Games 5, 6, and 7 (if necessary) have not yet been released.
