You don’t expect to have MLB uniform news breaking in late September, but that’s what happened yesterday, as the Rays announced a new set of road greys (shown above). The new design will make its on-field debut tonight, in the second game of the team’s split doubleheader against the Yankees. Since the Rays’ magic number for clinching the American League East is two, they could end up clinching the division while wearing this design, which would presumably mark the first time in MLB history that a uniform’s on-field debut was also a clinching game.
