Michigan To Go All White On The Road

By John Ekdahl

More Michigan uniforms changes are on the way this year, courtesy of Jim Harbaugh. From CBS Sports:

When the Michigan Wolverines hit the road this season they’ll be traveling back in time. Or their uniforms will be at least.

The Wolverine is reporting that Michigan will wear all-white uniforms for road games this season, saying the idea comes from the new man in charge, Jim Harbaugh. The new uniforms will be based off the road uniforms Michigan wore in 1974.

As reported yesterday, Southern Miss unveiled their new football uniforms a University event yesterday.

One of the biggest draws of this year’s Fanfare was the unveiling of the school’s new football uniforms. A small group of Golden Eagles suited up in the new apparel, which featured a predominantly black and white color scheme with a smattering of gold accents here and there.

Junior quarterback Nick Mullens, who was part of the group that modeled the new uniforms, said two words come to mind when he looks at them.

“They’re smooth,” he said. “Smooth and consistent. Two words that fit the appearance. They’re nice.”

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Michigan, you suck.

Not sure how I feel about the white pants, but the away jersey is the nicest Michigan has had since the Lloyd Carr era

The white pants are terrible. Michigan wearing white pants is almost as stupid as the idea of the Steelers wearing white pants. Yeah, they’ve done it in the past, but… no. Stop.

Don’t mince words Jeff, what do you really think?

Could be worse… at least the addidas tri-stripeyness nowhere to be seen. Wonder how the fan base is gonna take to this?

Not sure if those are the pants, no adidas markings on them at all, front hip or wash tags. Those look old in cut and material as well.

Blue Jays are celebrating the 1985 AL East division winning team today, the players from the 85 team were wearing the powder blue pullover jersey (NNOB) that they wore back then. It would be nice to see the Jays bring those back again.

The team is also wearing the classic white front panel hat that they used to wear. They need to also bring those back!

Video of Jays honouring 1985 team today:

After that 1985 series against the Royals, I switched from the Jays as my American League team to the Mariners. After Buhner retired and the Expos went south I don’t really have a team (other than the “anyone except the Yankees” team) and don’t watch much MLB, but willing to jump on the Jays bandwagon.

If you look at the hats they wore today, they were a meld of the current logo (sans baseball) and the old panel hats.

I’ve always considered U-mich’s road road uni to be an after thought (at least the past 15 years) compared to the classic home blue. I love the simple sleave and pant stripes. Just not sure how I feel about the mono white look. I really like the solid blue numbers.

I dont see how are why anyone would complain about Michigan wearing classy and appropriate pants. Ok they are white. Would you rather they be black or gray?It is 2015 you know and these idiot Millenials are all about choosing a school to play at based on how idiotic a uni looks. Or stupid and unnecessary stripe patterns.

Or maybe we just think they should wear “maize” like they have for most of their existence? Sure, white is better than black, but it’s still stupid.

So, Rams/Raiders game, Raiders’ head coach Jack Del Rio was wearing a t-shirt. Has that happened before? I know coach attire has become a bit more relaxed in recent years, but I don’t recall ever seeing a coach in a t-shirt during a game.

The old Blue Jays logo was beautiful. They never should have tinkered with it. Seems hard to modernize an already modern logo. Those powder blue tops looked awesome and I loved the Jays’ number font from ’85.

White pants are horrible, yellow looks great on tv really pops. A big downgrade.

Considering what Adidas did to other majestic uniforms, Michigan fans should consider themselves LUCKY.

On that note, with the NHL signing with Adidas, and my team far from being one whose unis are categorized as “untouchable”, I absolutely shudder over what’s to come.
