Royals Tigers Baseball

The Tigers looked pretty snazzy in their Detroit Stars jerseys during the 13th annual Negro League Tribute Game on Saturday night. —Vince

The dual-colored lettering scheme was a little much for me, but the rest of it was pretty snazzy…

Well, I really haven’t been watching the British Open, but check out link outfit worn by Sergio yesterday. I guess he’s representing Spain with that. I don’t know, seems a little too much

Watched most of the Tigers – Royals game with the throwbacks. They were very nice and the style in which they were worn seemed very appropriate. I never realized how great the KC Monarchs uniforms were, but they were beautiful. It is a shame they are not worn full time by a team.

First glance at the pic I thought it was a group of players with their jerseys open, and the undershirt, that was the blue, also read Detroit and they magically aligned for one brief photo.

in that stars/monarchs game last night it was a shame ordonez, infante, polanco, and jones couldn’t wear their unis the old-style “right” way for one night..

todd jones looked an embarrassment in the ninth. shit, I was rooting for him to blow the save!! seriously, what the hell was he thinking….?

I wish MLB could go back to having sleeves that went past the elbow. Along with stirrups, that’d be pretty badass.

I am pretty sure Polanco had his jersey right, I thought he even had the bloused knee look.
the R in Detroit looked like it was a little bit higher than the rest of the letters in the link
Wouldn’t that kind of be the point of arched lettering? I don’t mean to sound snooty, but living in St. Louis, we’re experts on that kind of thing. The top of the Arch here is generally found at it’s highest point.

the brewers’ TV booth just mentioned that all the brewers were wearing their PANTS correctly today, at the knee. they noted that only vargas, the pitcher, and rickie weekes were not.. “didn’t get the memo”.

great to see the look on the team (even the coaches in the dugout are hiked up) and even better to hear the look described correctly as “pants high” NOT socks high.

The Milwaukee Brewers are (almost) all wearing knee high socks today. The exceptions are the pitcher – Claudio Vargas and Rickie Weeks. The pitcher I can understand, but why isn’t Rickie? Did he miss the memo?

The consensus is that we’re trying to break out of a slump and get things going again. The lineup is a total shakeup, as well.

There was a whole spiel by the announcers, including how Prince Fielder joined in the group, but half-heartedly. His socks barely reach mid-calf. I wonder if this is because he doesn’t like the look or if it’s because the socks don’t stretch that much!

Screen caps to follow as the game goes on.

I love the Monarchs uniforms. The great thing is that there are so many different ones they used in their existence, so every time the Royals wear Monarchs jerseys, you are seeing one you haven’t seen in a while. I think this season they have worn Monarchs uniforms at least 3 times, and they have all looked very nice. Their best ones, in my opinion, are the 1945 home uniforms. Love it!

And the Tigers looked good as well. I just live in KC, so I am partial.

I meant out of place high… like separated from the rest of it.

Check out Polanco in the pick in post #10? What is not correct about it nybatt? I thought he looked good during the game and the picture backs me up.

I’m jokingly commenting on the red and the black. If you’re trying to tell me that there isn’t a 2-red on a roulette wheel, well, relax.

Otherwise, not sure what your beef is.

Is it true that Paul is lounging on us just so he can read the new Harry Potter book?

I want Gryffindor Quidditch team for my membership card!

dont know if he does it often, but Cliff Floyd was wearing a gray tee with some yellow insignia on it under his Cubs jersey today. Looked like half of the yellow thing read “league.” Anybody else notice it or have details?

The R did look higher on the jerseys that had the top two buttons unbuttoned. For those who wore their jerseys buttoned properly, the alignment was correct.

It’s probably link. Every player gets a shirt during spring training with that logo and I remember seeing Hanley Ramirez wearing it under his jersey a few weeks ago.

    That neckline looks terrible
    Gross

I know there are a lot of Mets fans on here so I have a few questions for you. #1 Why does David Wright wear an orange under-shirt and the rest of the team wears different colored under-shirts? #2 Which do you think looks better, orange or black?
By the way, those black jerseys are terrible. It doesn’t help that they are playing the Dodgers who are wearing an all time classic.

How bad-ass would the road grays be with blue undershirts? It would make the piping really pop out. (I guess the same could be said for the alternate blacks, but you can’t really make those things look too good. Wait. Take that back. Black jerseys + blue undershirts = big bruises.)
Whoa, go to ESPN right now and check out what Joe Morgan’s wearing today. Blinding.
Yeah, plus the Braves are rockin’ the red alts- at least they treat them strictly as alts and wear them only on Sundays, though if I remember correctly, they wore the normal home whites in trheir last home Sunday night game against Detroit. Anybody remember?

link I’ll guess they reserve the red for Sunday home games against other National League teams.

The long sleeves under Felipe Lopez’ jersey are somewhat disconcerting. Kinda reminds me of link

I’d be a lot happier with the Braves red alts if they were the darker garnet red that’s actually in the team’s color scheme.

When Peter Gammons interviewed Tim Hudson you could see a chart on the wall ala dressed to the nines detailing the Braves uniform along with the BP jersey/cap and dugout jacket.

I also am not a fan of the Braves alts the shade of red is off, plus they have a great home uni as it is.

I agree, Atlanta has great normal unis, but I have to admit the red alts are kind of growing on me.

Along the same lines, Boston, who ordinarily wears the red at home on Sunday, was in white today hosting the Pale Hose. Wonder if it was Wakefield’s decision?

I totally dig Wright’s orange undershirt, makes him stand out since he’s the only one that seems to be hitting consistantly these days. I will say it looks better under the whites though.

Sox have had 9 home Sunday games in 2007–have worn the red jerseys once.

A little less than half the time on home Sundays in ’06.

Some interesting uni-related stuff in this interview with Michigan Athletic Director Bill Martin about the switch to Adidas:

    link

Especially note the comments from Michigan softball coach Carol Hutchins about “we’re maize- not yellow, but maize!”

Which is funny, because if you look at pictures of Michigan football teams from the 70’s and 80’s, the color of maize on the pants was different almost every year. Mattered which supplier they got it from. Some years it was almost orange!

Good to know Adidas is going to have two full-time staff in Ann Arbor to deal with uniform issues, one for men’s sports, one for women’s. They’re also going to allow Michigan to custom-design the football coaching staff’s sideline apparel.

Wow, i no longer feel as terribly as i did before about my hometown Sharks rumored jersey change. I just have to remind myself by looking at the preds jersey–It could be worse. And once again–for the third year in a row, the Preds once again prove their inferiority to the sharks :-P

Actually, that was the Saturday game that Cox was thown out. They did wear the red unis on the sunday night game.

Sorry Ryan, this is a blog. It was just an image someone saw. Great Pic TD!

Did anyone notice Todd Jones’ pants? There was no elastic on the bottom, and they weren’t rolled-up or tucked into his pants. When he strided, the cuff rode up kinda like an old man crossing his legs on a park bench.
